Dr. Rajan Kumar, Associate Professor at Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies, JNU
Dr. Rajan Kumar is Associate Professor at the Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Prior to joining JNU, Dr. Kumar has taught at the University of Kentucky from where he pursued his doctorate degree. He has collaborated and worked on many projects with national and international agencies, most notable being the ones funded by ICSSR on BRICS and Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES), a European Union Project. He has co-authored a book titled Re-emerging Russia: Structures, Institutions, and Processes published by Palgrave Macmillan and has many articles, book chapters, and web commentaries in various national and international journals and outlets to his credit. He regularly contributes to Indian and foreign dailies and is frequently interviewed on Russian foreign policy by Indian media outlets.

Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM** (Retd)
Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain was born in 1953 in Uttar Pradesh. He went to Sherwood College, Nainital, and St Stephen’s College, Delhi. He has a BA (Hons) in History, an MSc in Defence Studies, and an MPhil in Management Studies. He also has an MA in International Studies from King’s College, London. Commissioned in 1974 in the Garhwal Rifles, Lt Gen Hasnain is a second-generation officer. His father, an ex-officer of the Garhwal Rifles, retired as a Major General from the Indian Army. Hasnain commanded the prestigious 21 Strike Corps before being selected to command the most important formation of the Indian Army, 15 Corps, in December 2010.
Lt Gen Hasnain participated in Operation PAWAN in Sri Lanka during 1988-90 and took part in counter-insurgency operations in Punjab in 1990-91. He has served six frontline tours of duty on the Line of Control and has participated in counter-terrorist operations in Kashmir. He also commanded the Dagger Division, one of the oldest and most recognized fighting formations of the Indian Army, in Baramulla. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. He has had varied exposure abroad, having served with the United Nations Peace Keeping Forces in Mozambique and Rwanda in 1994-95. Among his interests are traveling and trekking.
Lt Gen (Dr) Rakesh Sharma, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd)
Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma was commissioned into 5/11 Gorkha Rifles on 11 Jun 1977 and retired as Adjutant General of the Indian Army on 31 Mar 2017. The General Officer has had command experience spanning the entire mosaic, covering all theatres. Having commanded his battalion in the North East, he commanded an infantry Brigade in Western theatre and an Infantry Division Deployed on the Line of Control in the Northern Theatre. He has also commanded a Corps in Ladakh. He was part of the Indian Army Training Team at IATT Botswana, Africa for three years and Director Strategic Studies (Global) at Army Headquarters. The General Officer has been a Research Scholar at Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, New Delhi, and did MPhil from the University of Madras and a Doctorate in Defence Studies from Meerut University.
Lt Gen Satish Dua, PVSM, UYSM, SM, VSM (Retd)
Lieutenant General Satish Dua, PVSM, UYSM, SM, VSM, retired as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff. The Integrated Defence Staff is responsible for synergizing capability development, perspective planning, and jointness amongst Army, Navy & Air Force. A counter-terrorism specialist, General Dua was the Corps Commander in Kashmir during the tumultuous years of 2015-16. He has commanded his Battalion as well as a Brigade in active militancy in Jammu & Kashmir on Line of Control, (LoC). As a Major General, he raised a new Counter-Terrorism Division of Assam Rifles in the North East called IGAR-EAST to coordinate operations in three states of North East. The General has also been a Commando Instructor as a Captain and Indian Defence Attaché in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos as a Colonel. He has also held important posts in Army HQ, dealing with capital and revenue procurement of weapons & equipment. He has held the post of Additional Director General (Procurement) and was a Deputy Director-General in Weapons and Equipment Directorate of IHQ of MoD (Army)
