The Field Marshal Manekshaw Essay Competition (FMMEC) has been a flagship endeavor, since 2019, by CLAWS an Indian Army affiliated think tank.
CLAWS focuses on National Security and Strategic Studies including Global & Regional Security, Military Strategy & Doctrine, Military Technology & Defence Acquisition, and Economy & Security Studies. Hence, the FMMEC aims to promote fresh thoughts on National Security in our youth. National Security encompasses all types of traditional and non- traditional threats.
This competition is intended to provide an opportunity to university students, Young Scholars, and Serving Armed Forces Officers to present their understanding/analysis of emerging security challenges. Accordingly, CLAWS invites young scholars from Universities and Serving Officers from Army, Air Force, Navy, PMF and CAPFs, with service of up to six (06) years (as on 31 December 2025)
