Dr Maheshwari is a decorated senior officer with over 36 years of progressive and multifarious experience in homeland security, border management, research and policy, law and order, gender sensitization to name a few. An IPS officer (1984 batch) of UP Cadre.
Dr Maheshwari has spent a sizable segment of his professional career in Uttar Pradesh working as Police Chief in towns of Moradabad, Kanpur, Allahabad and Gorakhpur and also headed Law & Order as well as Vigilance wings of UP Police. He has also worked in the Intelligence, Security, Economic Offences, CID, Training & Human Rights divisions of the State Police. He has worked with CRPF on counter-insurgency grids of Assam, Kashmir and the states affected by left-wing extremism.
Through hands-on experience in varied tough situations, Dr Maheshwari developed deep insights into a wide spectrum of professional domains which include leadership, interpersonal relations, human rights, communal harmony besides Police Operations. These learning were further refined by various reputed institutions that include London Business School, IIM Ahmedabad, IIPA New Delhi and National Police Academy, Hyderabad. As a Police professional he led his Force successfully in areas that range from Counter-Insurgency, Homeland Security, Crisis Management, Correctional Administration and Community Policing to Border management.
Currently, he is serving as Advisor to the Lt Governor of Puducherry.
