Pakistan Unveiled | Volume I | No. 6

This edition of Pakistan Unveiled presents a critical snapshot of the country’s domestic and regional landscape over the fortnight. Internally, the period was marked by heightened nationalist rhetoric and growing military assertiveness, underscored by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s address at the Overseas Pakistanis Convention, a notable increase in the defence budget, and the Air Force’s ranking as the 7th largest in the world. National solidarity with Palestine was observed through a countrywide shutdown, while protests continued in Sindh over the controversial Cholistan canal project. The World Bank’s approval of a major loan to empower women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also marked a significant development on the socio-economic front.

On the external affairs front, Pakistan deepened its bilateral and economic ties with countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, and Russia. It also hosted several international engagements, including the UN Peacekeeping Meeting, the Anti-Narcotics Conference with GCC nations, and the PATS Military Competition.

In the Terror Tally section, this issue documents continued human rights violations as reported by the Human Rights Council of Balochistan, alongside targeted attacks on JUI-F and BNP-M leaders, an assault on a passenger train by the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), and counter-terrorism operations across Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab.

A special section is dedicated to the recent Pahalgam attack, outlining Pakistan’s responses following the 22 April incident—ranging from National Security Committee deliberations and Senate resolutions to official press briefings—offering insight into the state’s evolving security narrative.
