Amb. Ranjit Rae is an Indian Foreign Service Officer of the 1980 batch. He served as Ambassador of India to Nepal, Hungary and Vietnam where he reinvigorated bilateral defence and trade cooperation. In his past role as a Joint Secretary (North) at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Amb. Rae was closely associated with the development of the 12-point agreement signed in 2005 in New Delhi between the then seven-party Alliance of Nepal and the CPN (Maoist) that culminated in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 2006. His latest book is titled “Kathmandu Dilemma: Resetting India-Nepal Ties”.
Maj Gen Gopal Gurung, AVSM, SM (Retd) was commissioned into the 4/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) in June 1983. In 37 years of military service, he has served in varied operational environments and tenanted command assignments in challenging areas such as
High Altitude Areas in Eastern Sikkim and Western Arunachal Pradesh. The Officer has served in the United Nations Mission in Angola (Africa) as Military Observer, and as a Staff Officer in the Military Personnel Branch of the Indian Army Force Headquarters. Post superannuation in June 2020, the Officer is drafting a book on “India-Nepal Relationship–A de Novo Approach” and has been regularly participating in panel discussions and seminars
on India-Nepal relations.
