Guidelines to Publish with CLAWS

Biannual Publications (Invitation-Based)

CLAWS Journal (June & December); Scholar Warrior (Spring & Autumn)   

Regular Publications

  • Manekshaw Paper : 7,000 – 15,000 words
  • Issue Brief               : 2,001 – 6,000 words
  • Web Article             : 800    – 1500 words

Web Articles

The Web Articles are 900 – 1500 words / The reference should be hyperlinked, and the following basic format may be followed.

  1. Introduction
  2. Body of the Article
  3. Conclusion

Documents should be in MS-Word Format only. Only HD images (if required) in respect to graphs and tables are to be used and the same should be attached in JPEG/ PNG format.

All web articles of to be emailed to [email protected]

Everything which would be categorised above the Web Article should be emailed to [email protected]

Issue Brief’s

Issue Brief(s) should be written in lucid language for readability and ease of understanding. Title of the Article(s) should be short and easily understood.

Documents should be in MS-Word Format only. Only HD images (if required) are to be used and the same should be sent to use in Jpeg/ PNG format.

The main body of Article(s) should be preceded by an Abstract of around 100-150 Words highlighting the essence and main aim of the Article(s).

 Structure of Issue Brief(s):

  • The main body of the Article(s) should start with an Introduction.
  • The Article(s) should end with Conclusion.
  • Font style: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12
  • Spacing: 1.5
  1. Article(s) should be written in British English (except cases wherein direct quotes are used). Example: Modernisation instead of Modernization; Industrialisation instead of Industrialization.
  • Short paragraphs and short sentences are preferred. Proper punctuation is to be used while writing the paper. NO PARAGRAPH NUMBERS are to be used.
  • No italics are to be used except when using words from other languages and Latin Words. In such cases, the English meaning of the same also needs to be written in brackets. Example: Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
  • Proper Subheadings need to be given. Bullet points (if required) are to be used instead of numbered pointers.
  • Appendices, if used, are to be placed at the end of the Article(s).
  • All papers should also include a 100–150-word bio of the Author.
  • Plagiarism: Similarity of 10% or below is only acceptable.
  • Quotation (s):
  • Quotations should be vividly distinguishable from the main text.
  • Direct quotations are to be placed within double quotes: “…….”
  • Any word(s) to be emphasised should be placed within single quotes: ‘….’
  • Reference/Citation Style:

The referencing style followed must be in APA 7th, the following document can be referred for pointers

  1. Serving Officers are required to obtain requisite clearances before mailing the paper to CLAWS. Certificates should be mailed along with the paper.
