In an endeavour to build on Strategic Culture, CLAWS had invited young Scholars from Universities to participate in the Field Marshal Mankeshaw Essay Competition (FMMEC) on National Security and Strategic Studies by submitting and presenting their research essays. The competition was aimed to cover a wide range of issues pertaining to National security.
We are overwhelmed with the response we received from the university students across India. This shows the commitment of younger generation who have immense interest in National Security and Strategic Studies.
The competition had the following categories:
Category A: Manekshaw paper of 8000-10000 Words
Category B: Issue Brief of 3500-5000 Words
There were three stages to the research competition
Stage 1: Submission of Abstracts and Selection of a Few Abstracts after a review of the topics
Stage 2: Submission of the final paper and review of each selected paper by subject matter experts
The papers were evaluated by the subject matter experts under the following parameters with different weightage to each
- Relevancy
- Originality
- Subject Matter
- Analysis/Recommendations
- Lucidity of Thoughts
- Structured Layout
- Fluency in Writing
- Citations
The papers were subject to scrutiny under three rounds by subject experts
Stage 3: Review of selected articles and declaration of results
