West Asia Dispatch | Volume 1 | No.10
This edition of West Asia Dispatch looks at key geopolitical, security, and humanitarian developments across the region from July 16-31. It highlights the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, UN famine warnings, and international aid bottlenecks. Israel’s controversial annexation rhetoric around Gaza, and continued covert operations in Iran feature prominently. Iran, meanwhile, conducted nuclear and missile talks with global powers, tested the Russian S-400 air defense system, and deepened ties with Russia and China, despite internal unrest and sanctions. In Syria, diplomatic overtures, including Israeli-Syrian talks, coincide with Saudi-led reconstruction pledges and shifting Turkish engagement. Turkey also made strategic defense and energy moves and got key defence deals. The newsletter also looks at the UAE-Turkey defence cooperation, Gulf diplomacy with the U.S., and regional realignments involving Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Lebanon.
