Introduction
The recently concluded Israel and Iran conflict offers transformative lessons to the Indian security establishment. While Iran would have had a successful intelligence based military engagements but not much information is available in the open domain. However, when analysing the military operations conducted by Israel during Operation Rising Lion the centrality of long-term, multi layered intelligence, ranging from strategic operational and tactical levels, in shaping the strategic outcomes of military interventions is clearly evidenced. Therefore, this paper will primarily base its arguments for the policy makers of the Indian security establishment by fleshing out the essentials of the operations conducted by Israel that were based totally on the ground work painstakingly laid out by their intelligence agencies at a distant country Iran, 1500 km away across land and air space of two countries, Jordan and Iraq.
