The Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS), in partnership with the Space Industries Association (SIA), organised a high-level Round Table Discussion (RTD) on “Application of Space for Future Wars: Guiding the 5G Road to DEFSAT 2026 and IndSpaceX 4.0” at Chanakya Hall, CLAWS. The RTD brought together senior military leadership, strategic thinkers, industry experts, policymakers, and academia to examine the rapidly evolving role of space as a decisive domain in modern and future warfare under the framework of Multi-Domain Operations (MDO). Deliberations focused on the employment of space capabilities in recent conflicts, India’s emerging challenges across the space security spectrum, and the development of plausible scenarios for future space-enabled wargaming, with particular emphasis on ISR, PNT, and SATCOM. The discussions highlighted the accelerating militarisation of space, the growing salience of counter-space, cyber and electronic warfare threats, and the imperative for resilient, secure, and indigenous space architectures. The RTD served as a key think-tank platform to build a core knowledge and strategy group, aimed at shaping India’s defence space roadmap and aligning national military–industry–policy efforts in the run-up to IndSpaceX 4.0 and DEFSAT 2026.
