Abstract
The article examines many unique combat virtues of MANPADS in various battlefield scenarios both as an integral part of the overall air defence ‘fire-arm’ as well as, in the stand-alone mode. The operation of Ukrainian MANPADS against the Russia’s attack helicopters in the early months of the ongoing Russo-Ukraine War has been analysed to drive home the utility of this weapon. As a fruit-of-labour, the work also examines the MANPAD scenario in our armed forces and suggests a way ahead.
